Set within the spectacular grounds of Murthly Castle Estate in Perthshire, the Highlander Backyard Ultra is one of Scotland’s premier endurance events. Runners tackle a 4.167-mile (6.7km) loop every hour, on the hour, with just 60 minutes to complete each lap before setting off again. The challenge continues through the day, into the night, and for as long as competitors can keep answering the bell. Surrounded by ancient woodland, rolling estate trails, and breathtaking Highland scenery, the Highlander combines the relentless mental challenge of the backyard ultra format with one of the most picturesque race venues in the UK. Only one runner will complete the final solo lap to become the last one standing.
